I am a transfer Theatre Design and Technology major with an emphasis in Stage Management at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
While at Old Dominion University, I was founder and Chair of the Technical Theatre Association, Chartered by USITT and the founder and Production Manager for Limelight Theatre Productions.
I graduated with Honors from the Legal Studies Academy at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach, VA, which gave me fantastic communication and writing skills through my many legal, public speaking, and writing courses, such as Legal and Oratory Debate, Ethics and Law, Public Speaking, and Senior Project, a 16 week long course in which I had to write a 25 page paper on a legal topic and organize an accompanying event, which had an attendance of over 50 people. Being in theatre at this time meant that I had to learn organizational and planning skills to balance a packed course load, after school commitments to the Legal Studies Academy, leadership and productions in theatre, and other activities and clubs, such as debate, Fun Company (an after school acting troupe), Virginia High School League (VHSL) One Act Competition, and being President of the Fundraising Committee for Thespian Troupe 3178.
I learned various skills from workshops, such as communicating as a stage manager in Communications 101, being a stage manager in two Stage Management workshops, how to use Vectorworks in Vectorworks for Beginners and Vectorworks 101, and being a dramaturg in Dramaturgy.
Some awards I have received in theatre are:
Nomination for Stage Management at KCACTF Region VI
Superior Rating for Scenic Design at the Virginia Thespian Conference
1st place at the District VHSL One Act Competition
1st place at the Regional VHSL One Act Competition
2nd place at the State VHSL One Act Competition
I have also received awards outside of theatre, including: 1st place at the Young Author's Competition 5 years in a row and Most Organized at the Emerging Young Leaders Conference.
